Abstract

These reflections seek to highlight the mechanisms that led to structuring the idea of Otherness in relation to the European identity culture and, consequently, to the configuration of a certain educational mentality. The epistemological horizon is hermeneutic, the methodology of the investigation is qualitative. The approach is interdisciplinary, as it makes use, in addition to pedagogical essays, of historical and archival, philosophical and literary sources to arrive at epistemic-educational considerations. The theoretical horizon is part of the tradition of de-colonial studies (De Sousa Santos B., 2009, 2021b).
