The article examines the detailed report written by Filippo Fragapane, a teacher at the elementary school of Grammichele, submitted to the Royal School Inspector at the end of the 1892–93 school year and published in a small printed booklet in 1908. It is an unpublished documentary source, preserved in the Provveditorato collection of the State Archives of Catania, which provides a detailed description of school life of the time in a small, outlying town in the province of Catania.
