Abstract

This contribution aims to bring attention to the experience of exile in María Zambrano and how it helped shape her thoughts on the human condition. Therefore, it will reflect on how exile, from a historical condition, common to so many thinkers in tragic years for Spain and Europe, rises to a metaphysical, ontological and cultural category, through which to arrive at a greater understanding of the human condition, seen against the backdrop of a value, cultural and intellectual crisis in western civilisation, and which requires us to rethink our relationship with history.
